FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it affect the garbage/waste pickup?

No. Waste removal trucks can empty the bin as usual.  There is no need for you to do anything!  You certainly do not need to remove your BLOP from the bin. The sturdy design of your BLOP ensures that it won’t be damaged.  We have clients who have had these on their bins for over 5 years so far with no issues.  Take a look at a quick video that shows the BLOP when the garbage truck arrives and picks up a bin.

Is your product Australian Made?

It sure is!  100% Australian made and owned our BLOPs are manufactured and distributed in Australia.  We don't have overseas call centres or emails that go around the world.  We have locations in Brisbane and Melbourne and we will have your product out to you quickly.  If you have any trouble, don't worry we are here to help and stand by our product which has been in the Australian market and on bins for over 20 years.

What size is my wheelie bin?

Our BLOPs fits most regular 80 litre up to 240 litre wheelie-bins. The best way to find out the size of your bin before ordering is to do any of the following:

  • Ask your local Council if you are unsure of your bin size
  • Look under the lid at the front of the bin where it meets the base.  You will sometimes see a stamp here with the size indicated.
  • Ask a friend or neighbour who lives in your area.  Most bins are provided by Council, so it is no use asking someone in another Council area
  • Take a look at the size charts below.  You will be best placed to determine the size if you know the brand of the bin you have and go direct to the manufacturer for size information.  Not all bins are the same.  Below are a few links that are common bin manufacturers in Australia.

What size bin can your BLOP fit?

Most regular 80 litre up to 240 litre wheelie-bins. These cover most of the  standard size council supplied waste, recycling and or green waste bins around Australia.  Unfortunately local government areas aren't the same, so you can always check with them for confirmation of the size of your bin.  If you are having trouble identifying your bin size, drop us a line with the dimensions of your bin and we will be able to help you get the right size BLOP for your bin.

Please note that we have also been made aware that some 240 litre wheelie-bins have inset wheels at the base which do not currently fit our current BLOP design.  This is due to our pedal fitting next to the wheels and the running up the side of the bin.  A photo below shows what these bins look like.

How does it work?

To operate the Bin Lid Opener, simply place your foot on the pedal and the lid opens for you. Place your rubbish and release the pedal to close the lid. The lid stays closed after rubbish collection and does not affect the waste removal trucks.

How do you install it?

Instructions are included with your BLOP and it will only take a few minutes to attach.  It is easiest to install your BLOP when you lie your bin on its side.  A hammer may be required to give the final piece a tap but no other tools are required.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes. The Bin Lid Opener comes with a 12-month warranty on parts.  We have had customers who have had these on their bins for over 20 years.  While not everyone will get that sort of life out of the product, it shows that these are quality products that can deal with the rough and tumble of rubbish collections.
